Local housebuilder brings fitness to your home for free

Barratt Homes teams up with leading strength and conditioning coach to help Ashford residents

Ashford residents are being given the opportunity to improve their fitness and wellbeing at home this February, with the help of strength and conditioning coach Craig Coggle in partnership with Barratt Homes.

Coggle lists former GB Aquathlon captain Yiannis Christodoulou among those he has worked with previously.

Barratt Homes is behind the Chilmington Green development on Hedgers Way and it is working with Coggle to offer a free online virtual exercise class to residents and the wider community. The online class will be accessible via a live stream on February 6 from 10am until 11am, offering a mixed ability cardiovascular and muscular strength and endurance session, suitable for all fitness levels with minimal equipment required.

During the class, Craig will coach the group through a workout which can be done at home, with modifications for beginners to ensure all participants can access the exercises safely. There are only 40 spaces in the class which will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To sign up please email:

Coggle says: “I’m really excited for this class as it’s a great way for the community to come together virtually to learn some important fitness tips about strength training through using just your body weight. Making exercises adaptable to do in your living room or spare room is especially necessary at the moment, so this class will give you some effective exercises that you can do even in your bedroom! I want to encourage everyone, no matter what fitness level, to tune in and have some fun while getting your heart pumping!”

Natalie Perry, sales and marketing director for Barratt Kent, says: “As we go through another national lockdown, keeping active is important for both our physical and mental wellbeing, so we are pleased to be able to offer this free online exercise class for the Ashford community to take part in from the comfort of their own home.

“Our homes at Chilmington Green are designed with adaptable living space to ensure flexibility for residents, and they can easily turn spare rooms into home gyms or adapt the open plan living space to accommodate home fitness – perfect for exercising from home!”

Barratt Kent is currently offering a range of three- and four-bedroom homes at Chilmington Green. All have adaptable living space for flexible living and prices start from £379,995.

He has also worked for the following dailies/nationals: Daily Express, Today*, News of the World* and Hong Kong Star*. All those marked with an asterisk no longer exist (trend emerging?). He owned and edited a Thailand-based property magazine before returning to England and currently works as a production editor on a car fleet magazine. His first foray into property ownership saw him move from London to Rainham (the Gillingham, Kent, variety). He has subsequently lived in Chislehurst, Petts Wood and Orpington in the Borough of Bromley (which he still regards as being in Kent). In more recent years he owned three different properties on the Kings Hill (West Malling) development.
