Room Next Door internet comedian coming to Kent

Live show will be staged in Margate and Ashford

Internet sensation Michael Spicer will visit Kent twice as part of his current debut tour of the UK with his highly anticipated live show, The Room Next Tour.

The tour started in Newbury in late May and concludes at the Revelation in Ashford on December 4. Earlier, he will visit the Theatre Royal, Margate, this coming Saturday (November 6). Tickets are available now from

Hot on the heels of the publication of his first book, The Secret Political Adviser: The Unredacted Files of the Man in the Room Next Door, Michael Spicer’s tour provides an entertaining insight into the internet sensation of 2020. Michael talks about his life making comedy under the radar, his viral hits of the past and of course, his brand new Room Next Door sketches.

This is a unique opportunity as the man from The Room Next Door finally leaves his room behind and walks out live onto the stage. Michael Spicer is a comedy writer, actor, director and the creator of the viral sketch, The Room Next Door (50 million views and counting).

After several months posting the videos on social media, Michael made his Room Next Door debut on The Late Late Show with James Corden earlier this year, and also featured on BBC Two’s The Mash Report.

The Room Next Door has also resulted in a Radio 4 series which is due for broadcast later this year, the pilot of which won a British Comedy Guide award for Best Radio Sitcom and a TV adaptation which is currently in development with Zeppotron. Michael also has a book The Secret Political Adviser which was published by Canongate in October 2020 and is the recipient of Chortle’s Internet Award. He has also spoken about his creation on Newsnight.

Before the tour kicked off Michael said: “This tour is going to be a thrilling experience for me, not only because it is the realisation of something I’ve been dreaming about and working towards for years but also because I’ll be outside of my house. I hope audiences will be equally thrilled about being outside of their houses.”

Dave Buckley is a career journalist. “I once went painting girders for a week and discovered I didn’t like heights,” he says. “Apart from that it has always been journalism for me in one form or another.” Past local weekly publications he has worked for include: the South-East London Mercury* covering the Borough of Greenwich as a junior reporter; Orpington-based News Shopper as a sub-editor; and the Kent Messenger when based in Larkfield, Maidstone, as deputy chief sub-editor. He has also worked for the following dailies/nationals: Daily Express, Today*, News of the World* and Hong Kong Star*. All those marked with an asterisk no longer exist (trend emerging?). He owned and edited a Thailand-based property magazine before returning to England and currently works as a production editor on a car fleet magazine. His first foray into property ownership saw him move from London to Rainham (the Gillingham, Kent, variety). He has subsequently lived in Chislehurst, Petts Wood and Orpington in the Borough of Bromley (which he still regards as being in Kent). In more recent years he owned three different properties on the Kings Hill (West Malling) development.
