Howletts Spring 5k at Howletts, the Aspinall Wild Animal Park – Sunday 29th March 2020
The Howletts Halloween 5k Run takes place within the grounds of Howletts Wild Animal Park and gives you a unique opportunity to see lots of different animals around the reserve, but with a spooky twist! The route winds its way all around the site, and is open exclusively for the start of the run. With a kids fun trail as well as refreshments this will be a friendly, fun event for all the family with our usual great atmosphere.
In 2019 The Aspinall Foundation rescued11 Elephants, 4 Giraffe, 24 Wildebeest and 18 Buffalo from a reserve struggling desperately with severe drought and very little food. The animals were relocated to new reserves where they are now well fed, watered and protected. This year The Aspinall Foundation are raising funds for their South Africa Emergency Fund to ensure the future of many other Elephants and African wildlife that are in desperate need of rescue. By taking part and fundraising for the Howletts Spring 5K you will be directly assisting in this vital conservation work and saving wildlife from extinction.
Our Free Event Village will be open from 8:00am on the Grasslands outside of the main park where you will find Race HQ, stalls, food/drink and entertainment. The 5K race both starts and finishes at our event village so please bring spectators along to cheer you on and enjoy the day!
Howletts Wild Animal Park was set up as a private zoo in 1957 by John Aspinall near Canterbury, Kent. The animal collection was opened to the public in 1975. To give more room for the animals another estate at Port Lympne near Hythe, Kent was purchased in 1973, and opened to the public as Port Lympne Zoo in 1976.
