222nd Whitstable Regatta the oldest sea Regatta in the world
Another free event of Regatta is 222nd Whitstable Regatta organised by Whitstable & Herne Bay Lions and it will be held at Tankerton Slopes, Marine Parade, Whitstable on Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th August 2015 start from 11am onwards.
The two day event will be packed with A yacht race at the Regatta, A Viking battle at the Slopes, Air display and lots of fun, music for the children and verything to suit all the family. Firework Display out at the sea will be something special for Whitstable Regatta.
The first Whitstable Regatta was held on 7 August 1792 and has been held almost every year since then. In 1912 the Whitstable Yacht Club took over the running of the Town Regatta as it was known and even in those early days there was an “Aeroplane display”. Extra trains were laid on from Canterbury with cheap fares.
