Mo Farah has been officially knighted following an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Sir Mo received his knighthood from the Queen for services to athletics.
The runner ditched his sportswear for top hat and full morning suit during the ceremony on Tuesday.
Sir Mo described the moment as “incredible” and admitted he never imagined it would happen.
The investiture comes just months after the 34-year-old called time on his track career and announced he would be concentrating on running road marathons.
Speaking after the ceremony, Sir Mo said: “Over the years you dream of becoming something or doing something in your career, to take it to the highest level and become an Olympic champion – that was always the dream.
“As an eight-year-old coming from Somalia and not speaking a word of English, to be recognised by your country, it is incredible.”
On being handed the honour by the Queen, Sir Mo said she told him he has been “going too long” and asked him if he has retired.
